A Message From Our Chief Executive Officer – Ms. Angalie N. Dasai

Dear Colleagues, Families and Friends,

I am deeply humbled and honored to assume the responsibilities of Chief Executive Officer/Executive Director of The Friends of Crown Heights Educational Centers, Inc., (FOCH).

This milestone is not mine alone—it is the result of unwavering support, encouragement and belief from so many who have walked beside me. I am especially grateful to my family, whose sacrifices, love and steadfast support have been my foundation. I carry their strength and spirit with me into this next chapter of our journey.

My journey with Friends of Crown Heights began as the Director of Coaching and Mentoring, in which capacity I had the privilege of collaborating closely with our Educational Directors and instructional staff to enhance educational practices and promote professional growth. In my subsequent role as Executive Director of our Family Child Care Network, I led our team in supporting our affiliated providers and ensuring high-quality care for the children we serve. These experiences have deepened my understanding of our organization’s mission and commitment to service.

To our staff, my colleagues, and the entire FOCH family—Thank You! Your passion, dedication, and tireless commitment to the children and families we serve inspire me daily. You have each played a meaningful role in shaping the leader I have become, and I am proud to
continue this work alongside such an extraordinary team.

I extend my heartfelt gratitude to my immediate predecessor, Mr. Daryl Davis. His leadership and mentorship have been invaluable to my journey. The legacy he leaves—a legacy built on excellence, compassion, and community—will continue to guide our work. I am excited to build upon the strong foundation he has laid, and to carry forward the values he exemplified.

As we chart our course ahead, we must also pause to honor those who came before us. The late Mr. Vaughan Toney, whose visionary leadership shaped our organization for over two decades, remains a towering figure in our history. His relentless advocacy for equity, access, and educational excellence has impacted thousands of lives and continues to inform our mission today. His memory is a guiding light as we move forward.

This new role in which I am now called to serve is much more than a personal achievement—it is a profound responsibility. I step into it with a clear purpose: to deepen our impact, empower our teams, and elevate our shared mission. The path ahead may bring challenges, but I am confident that with your partnership, we will meet them with resilience, innovation, and unity.

As we begin this next chapter together, I pledge to lead with transparency, collaboration and an unwavering commitment to the children, families and communities who place their trust in us. Let us move forward—together—with purpose, unity and confidence in our shared and limitless future.
