Cynthia Desepeda is the Educational Director at our Friends of Crown Heights 921 Hegeman Avenue Educational Center in the East New York section of Brooklyn. In this capacity, she is responsible for leading all educational initiatives in the program, and facilitating all aspects of our family partnership and community engagement activities at the Center.

Ms. Desepeda is a career educator who brings to her position more than two decades of prior instructional and leadership experience in the Archdiocese of New York’s Head Start Program.  She also previously served as a Special Instructor in the Achieve Beyond Autism Services program. She holds the Master’s Degree in both Early Childhood and Special Education from Touro College, as well as the New York State Teacher Certification in Early Childhood and Special Education from Birth to Grade 2. She is also a graduate of the Tanuan Institute of the Philippines, where she obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Education. As a highly committed career educator, she believes that all children are unique and have something special that they can bring to their own education.

In addition to her lifelong pursuit of professional excellence, Ms. Desepeda is also active in her faith-based community, serving as Lector and Commentator at both the Ascension Church and Adalbert Church in Queens, New York, and as a Catechist in the Faith Formation Class of the Ascension Church.
