Donecia Johnson is an accomplished Early Childhood educator, author, and program leader with more than 20 years of experience in strengthening learning environments, guiding instructional teams and supporting families. She currently serves as Educational Director of our Sutter Avenue Center (KBYM), where she is responsible for overseeing daily program operations, ensuring all aspects of regulatory compliance, and elevating classroom quality through thoughtful curriculum planning and staff coaching.

Ms. Donecia holds a Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts from Medgar Evers College (CUNY), and the Master’s degree in Education/Special Education from Concordia University. She also holds the New York State Teacher certification from Birth to Grade 2. She is widely recognized, respected and embraced by colleagues for her warm and outgoing demeanor, steady professionalism and unwavering commitment to preparing our children for a limitless future. Throughout her decades of professional experience, she has demonstrated a consistent ability to build strong, collaborative relationships with teachers, parents, and children. Her leadership style blends structure, empathy and clear communication while creating a positive culture in which staff feel supported and children are enabled to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

In addition to her educational leadership, Ms. Donecia is also a published author of two children’s books, reflecting her passion for storytelling with purpose. Through her writing, she encourages early literacy, emotional growth and meaningful family engagement, extending her impact beyond the classroom and into the homes and hearts of the families she serves. Her work as an author highlights her creativity, her love for children, and her commitment to empowering young minds through positive, uplifting narratives.
