Maureen Johnson
Senior Educational Director
Maureen Johnson is a Senior Educational Director at our Friends of Crown Heights Educational Centers with agency-wide responsibility for the supervision of all pedagogical and administrative activities as well as regulatory compliance in designated programs under her jurisdiction. A career professional and scholar in the field, she holds a dual Master’s degree in Special Education and Elementary Early Childhood Education from Long Island University. She also holds a graduate degree in administration as well as the permanent New York State certification as a School Administrator-Supervisor, and as a School District Administrator. In addition, Ms. Johnson has so far earned twelve PhD credits in early childhood administration from Walden University. Prior to joining FOCH, she had already worked in the field of Early Childhood Education for more than 23 years.
”My goal is to increase the number of early childhood educators with professional credentials and higher learning,” she says. “I consider it an important part of my responsibility to help them maximize their skills, knowledge and experience in the field.”
Toward that end, Maureen Johnson maintains a robust teaching schedule alongside her leadership role as an Educational Director within the FOCH community. She is currently a Health and Safety trainer for the State University of New York (SUNY) Professional Development and Training Program sponsored by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services. She also serves as an Adjunct Professor of Early Childhood Education at Borough of Manhattan Community College, and as a CDA Professional Development Specialist with the Council for Professional Recognition Association in Washington, DC. In addition, she is a Verified Early Childhood Trainer for Aspire New York’s Registry for Early Childhood Professionals where she helps foster a heightened commitment to ongoing professional development and career advancement among other specialists in the field.
