Traceyann Essien
Educational Director - FOCH Liberty Avenue Center
Traceyann M. Essien is the Educational Director at our Friends of Crown Heights Center located at 851 Liberty Avenue in the East New York section of Brooklyn.
Ms. Essien is a career educator who brings to our organization more than two decades of continuous professional experience and expertise at multiple levels in the field. She most recently served as Educational Director of the Infants-to-Kindergarten program at Get Set Kindergarten School in Brooklyn and has previously taught at the Pre-K, Elementary and Intermediate levels in both public and private New York City schools. She is also a former teacher and Guidance Counselor in her native Jamaica.
Ms. Essien holds the Master of Science degree in both Early Childhood and Special Education from the College of New Rochelle, as well as the New York State Professional Certification in both specialties from Birth to Grade 2. She is also a graduate of the Mico Teachers’ College in Jamaica, and Brooklyn College of the City University of New York. She is especially passionate about the integration of technology into our classrooms and nurturing those children with special needs.
“My mission is to provide an educational program that focuses on the goals and standards put forth by New York State, as well as to promote literacy and to help our families help their children,” she says.
