QUALITYstarsNY is New York State’s Quality Rating and Improvement System for Early Childhood. Early Childhood experts and stakeholders have worked with QUALITYstarsNY to develop evidence-based Standards representing high-quality program practices that fall into four categories: Learning Environment, Family Engagement, Leadership & Management, and Staff Qualifications & Experience. These Standards serve as the basis for the QUALITYstarsNY rating scale. The entire system is coordinated by The New York Early Childhood Professional Development Institute within the City University of New York (CUNY).
The Friends of Crown Heights Educational Centers, Inc., (FOCH), is a proud participant in the QUALITYstarsNY system. The most recent QUALITYstars rating for each of our Early Childhood programs is displayed alongside our Center listings.
WHY QUALITY MATTERS
A quality Early Care and Education program goes beyond keeping children safe and healthy. It nurtures and challenges young minds to develop critical thinking, social, emotional, and physical skills. Research shows that children who attend quality programs do better in school and throughout their lives.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR FAMILIES?
QUALITYstarsNY helps families make better informed decisions about their early education options. By choosing a QUALITYstarsNY program, families can be confident that their child’s program is invested in delivering high-quality early learning experiences. Better still, families will know that these programs are supported with critical resources, such as classroom materials and furnishings, staff training, professional development opportunities, and assessments to make sure that children get all that they need to succeed and realize their full potential.
